Erik DiCarlo

Erik DiCarlo, a single dad with two young children, woke up one morning and lost the ability to use his legs and to walk. In all other aspects, he was a healthy 52-year-old. The Doctors say that something (they can’t say for certain) triggered his Immune System to overreact and attack his nervous system while it was trying to protect him. He drew upon his strength from having had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at 19 years old and a major kidney ailment at 16 years old to fight this new battle. The Doctors said he is among a tiny percentage of people who this happens to, and among an even smaller percentage of people his age. As Erik is now confined to a wheelchair, recently becoming a paraplegic, Life’s Angels was able to assist with a grant for an in-home hospital bed.
